Bagalangit was once under the jurisdiction of Bauan and San Luis. The coastal and lowland parts were under San Luis and the upland was under Bauan. That was during the Spanish Era up to the American Regime. But in 1918 when the town of Mabini was created through the leadership of Captain Francisco Castillo, Bagalangit became one of the twelve original barrios.Based from research made by the writer the word Bagalangit originated from the two words "Baga" and "Langit", meaning embers and heaven rspectively. Thus based from the story coming from thr first settlers of the place, which was handed down from generation to generation, the legend goes this way.Once there was a stranger who happened to take a walk from the seashore going up to the mountain, he felt warm as if there were hot smokers in his body, and he muttered "Baga". Although he felt awrm he walk as far as the top of the mountain peak. Upon reaching the top, he felt the fresh air and he was relaxed and said, "I am no longer tired, this is Langit".
